This older iMac was brought to us do to it being very slow when trying to open files or use any programs. Initially the user thought that it was because their hard drive was full. We ran diagnostics on the hard drive and determined the slowness was due to a failing, not full, hard drive.
We could have replaced the hard drive with a slower traditional model but chose to upgrade it to a newer, faster SSD (solid state drive). This gave the user plenty of space and had the iMac running better than when it was new.
While we had the iMac open to replace the hard drive we took the chance to clean out the fans and heat sinks along with all the accumulated dust over the years. Between the new SSD drive running considerably cooler than a normal hard drive and the cleaning this iMac should be running faster and cooler than ever.
These upgrades can add several years to an again Apple Mac computer, whether an iMac or Macbook.
If you have a Mac that is slowing down after a few years give us a call to get the hard drive upgraded and breath new life into your aging machine.
